Victor Hugo's House

Do you know who Victor Hugo is? I guess yes, particularly after his book Les Miserables has become so popular worldwide again, thanks to the recent Hollywood movie and the famous musical.

Everyone knows the beautiful story of Les Miserables in these days, but do you know Victor Hugo was also a great interior designer? Do you know how the celebrated French author got the inspiration for his masterpieces? Do you know he had political views that were amazingly modern and innovative for his times? I got to know all this in a day and without reading a book!

Path Laguna Torre - Senda Laguna Torre Fitz Roy

Travellingbooks, Danziger's Travels

I love travel books!

I added to my website Danziger's Travel book!

One of the most adventurous books of our times. You couldn't believe it's a true story. A young well educated man of the English middle class who leaves fun, girls and maybe a comfortable tomorrow in London to seriously risk his life in Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan. Travelling with terrorists and guerilla's soldiers, alone, with people who weren't speaking his language ....click on the link below to read more...

What am I reading now ?

Danziger's Travels - Nick Danziger - Travel diary about an adventurous traveller in the '80s from Istanbul to China, crossing forbidden borders in Siria, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Tibet, China...

I dreamed of Africa - Kuki Gallmann - Wonderful biographic true story about a woman setting up an estate in Kenya, her personal life, her dramas, her dreams.

Round Ireland in Low Gear - Eric Newby - Cycle travel around Ireland in the 80's with Newby tipical touch of wit.

Toilers of the sea - Victor Hugo - Romance about a brave sailor in the Channel Island. It's not a travel book ? Well, I dont' think so, it has a strong taste of adventure that you can find in the best travel books... so I listed it.

The Old Patagonian Express - Paul Theroux - A long travel by train along N & S America.
This is the start of a new website.

As you can read in the page about me, I love travelling and I'm constantly looking for a full explanation about this urge for travelling that never seems to leave me. So, I thought, let's collect different opinion about this travelling fever that seems to affect many of us! Why not to make a website about travel books, where I can post the reviews about the books I read?

I hope that other fellow travelers like you will send me comments about books they read and they feel they are worth being published.

On my website https://sites.google.com/site/edtravellingbooks/home I started to build up a directory with travel books, listed by country.

Any book you want to tell me about or any comment you want to make please write me at ed.whatamidoinghere@gmail.com.

Remember my principal aim is to collect possible explanations for the travelling fever affecting many of us, so I'll be particularly glad to publish any explanation you'll find appropriate and I'll quote your name and blog too if you wish.
